The Pasadena Maple Leafs Hockey Club (PML) was established in 1964 and exists to create character, courage and citizenship through a youth ice hockey program and family friendly atmosphere. We endeavor to have our players master the skills of the game by acquiring the right physical, mental and social skills.

Comings and Goings
With the election of Rick Brodey and Mike Macy, and the re-election of Crissy Finney, the PML Executive Board is set for the 2013/2014 season. The newly elected members will join returning members Susan Kovinsky and Lilly Lieu as your representatives on the Executive Board. The entire Pasadena Maple Leafs organization would like to welcome Rick and Mike to the Board, and thank them for their commitment to the Leafs.We would also like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to our departing EB members, who have provided all manner of invaluable support to the Leafs during their service. Jon Dudley served three terms on the Executive Board, and we were fortunate to have his commitment and generosity during that time. Although Jon is retiring from his PML duties, he will remain a valued member of the Leafs family.
Gary Paul Andre has been a committed Board member since 2004. While we offer our profound thanks for his invaluable past service, we also hope (and expect!) that Coach Andre will remain active with the Leafs this season and beyond.
The Club would also like to extend many thanks and best wishes to Joe Francis, outgoing director of coaches, who generously served the Leafs for the past four years.
Every Season is Hockey Season
Play Spring/Summer In-House at PISC!Registration is now open for Pasadena's spring and summer In-House hockey program, offering weekly clinics and games in Mite, Squirt and PeeWee/Bantam divisions from April 1st through August 4th.
The In-House program is a great way to stay sharp and keep your game on the rise between beach days and summer blockbusters. It's also a great deal - no Groupon necessary: the $450 cost includes a Draft Skate, 16 practices and 15 games. In-house teams may independently arrange to play tournaments (Memorial Day, etc.).

Midgets Defeat Jr Ducks 3-1, Win SCAHA
In a thrilling game highlighted by big hits, great goaltending and timely scoring, the Pasadena Maple Leafs Midget 18U A team defeated the Anaheim Jr. Ducks at the Toyota Sports Center to capture the 2013 SCAHA Championship. The win was the first SCAHA title for a Maple Leafs team since 2010, when the PML Bantam A team earned championship honors.
The Leafs (7-7-2 in regular season play, good for 4th place) struck first, on a goal by Aaron Cote at 14:03 of the opening period, and the predominantly blue-and-white crowd -- described by the veteran rink announcer as the largest he'd ever seen for a Midget title game -- erupted. After close to a period of frenzied back-and-forth action, the heavily favored Ducks (15-1, 1st place) evened the score at 13:10 of the second.
But Pasadena struck again early in the third, when defender Clay Finney thwarted a Ducks rush at the blueline and pushed the puck up ice to Alex Bisenieks, who fed Jesus Gallegos for what ultimately proved to be the game winner. Despite tremendous Anaheim pressure, the Leafs played with confidence and composure. Goalie Derek Heuges stood tall, shutting down the Ducks until Pasadena's Michael Corbisiero notched a shorthanded goal with just under two minutes remaining to hammer the final nail in Anaheim's coffin.
Leafs Head Coach Terry Gordon was justifiably proud of his charges. "Seeing how these young men took the pressure of a championship game and challenged themselves and each other to play was phenomenal. And in the end, it was one of the best games I've ever seen."
The title tilt was a shot at redemption for the Ducks, who fell to Pasadena 2-1 in a shootout in earlier round-robin playoff action. But the result this time was even more decisive, with the Leafs demonstrating their will to win from the drop of the puck to the final buzzer. The Midgets now turn their attention to the CAHA State Championships, April 12-14 in San Jose.
"I knew this group of kids was something special from the very first practice," said Assistant Coach Wess Estes. "I am sure they'll do themselves proud in San Jose."
The Leafs last captured a State Championship in 2002, when the Peewee BB team performed the feat.
PML Welcomes Manny Ramirez
The Pasadena Maple Leafs are pleased to announce the selection of Manny Ramirez as PML's new Club Head Coach. Ramirez comes to Pasadena from the California Golden Bears, with experience that includes 14 years behind the bench at the University of Southern California (USC).
"Manny is a terrific fit for the Leafs," said PML President Lilly Lieu. "His experience and commitment to the sport, to the kids who play, and to all the values our Club represents have been apparent in everything he's done since his own years as a youth hockey player."
Ramirez is home grown, having played youth hockey in Pasadena and Burbank before skating with the USC varsity squad for four seasons. He later went on to be an Assistant Coach on eight USC Pac 8 championship teams. With the Bears, he has coached at the Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam levels, and has been head coach of their ADM program since 2011.
"I'm excited to be joining the Maple Leafs," said Ramirez. "The Club has made great strides over the past few seasons, and I look forward to building on that solid foundation to help move the Leafs and all our kids up to the next level of success."
Ramirez replaces Joe Francis, who has been PML Club Head Coach since 2009. "The PML family would like to thank Joe for his dedication to the Leafs since joining the Club," said Lieu. "We appreciate his hard work and efforts to elevate the level and quality of coaching in Pasadena."
A father of three -- with two sons playing youth hockey (Mite B and Midget AA 18 U) and one who plays soccer -- Ramirez will officially join the Leafs at the conclusion of the current SCAHA campaign.
